The places

To the north: Anglesey
You can see the Isle of Anglesey on the other side of the Menai Strait from Vegan Heaven. To get there by car you need to drive over either the Jubilee or the Menai bridge. To get there by bus you need to take the 5C (Arriva) to Bangor train station and then change onto the 4A (Arriva) to Llangefni via Menai Bridge. If you're making three or more bus trips with Arriva in the same day ask for a day ticket. We particularly like the occasional trip out to Menai Bridge to wander round the shops, have lunch at the Green Olive, and do a spot of shopping in Waitrose. Other things to do in this direction:

To the south: Snowdonia
Vegan Heaven is about a 20 minute drive from Llanberis and the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Alternatively you can take the hourly S2 bus run by Sherpa'r Wyddfa from Bangor to Pen-y-Pass via Rhiwlas. There is also a shorter but very lovely circular walk out from Rhiwlas around Moelyci. There is a good collection of maps and books of walks in Vegan Heaven. Other things to do in this direction:

To the east: Bangor
Bangor is a cathedral city with its own university. It has a useful collection of out-of-town shops (Tesco, Halfords, B&Q, Curry's, Pets at Home, Dunelm, Go Outdoors) on it's outskirts, a big Asda (good to know!) just down from the station, and a Morrisons and a very nice health food store on the road up from the station (served by the 5C bus). Other things to do in this direction:

To the west: Caernarfon
The historic town of Caernarfon is home to a castle, a big wheel, and a nice collection of independent shops and restaurants. Other things to do in this direction:
